About Me:

As the acting Head of Bibliographic Management Services I provide strategic and innovative leadership, vision, and management of the Bibliographic Management Services Division. This includes professional oversight of the processes, staff, and faculty that support acquisitions, cataloging and metadata services for the library, and representation of the Bibliographic Management Services Division within and outside the library. I works with Digital Library Initiatives to oversee metadata quality control, and establish relevant policies, procedures, and workflows; and perform professional librarian work as an original cataloger. I monitor contractual vendor services, and ensure that library information resources are rapidly and accurately described in the Libraries’ discovery systems. This work involves knowledge of current electronic, computer and other library technological systems (including hardware and software), familiarity with international cataloging practices and standards, project management, and supervision. I serves as a member of the library’s senior management group and work to facilitate effective communication and positive working relationships library wide and among affiliate campuses.

In my role as Metadata Librarian, I work closely with faculty and staff of the Mansfield Library to support library initiatives that foster quality service to UM learners and researchers through digital collections. I provide metadata and original cataloging for library collections; research and reference assistance; and mentoring within the profession of librarianship. I also participate as a member of the Montana NACO funnel and serve as the state reviewer for all funnel name authority record contributions.
