Plan,
evaluate and maintain total library services and instruction for
distance students. Apply new technologies to further develop reference
and instructional services for distance education students. Enhance and
maintain the Distance Education Library Services website. Select and
purchase materials supporting curricula in the social sciences. Work in
consultation with students and faculty in social science departments on
research questions. Provide face-to-face reference services at
information desk and provide on-campus or distant course-integrated
instruction as needed.
Reference Librarian. Kirkwood Community College, Iowa City Campus, August 2003 to Sept. 2004.
Served
diverse student population’s information needs. Performed information
literacy tasks, such as library tours, classroom visits, and creation
of online tutorials. Served as backup for circulation and audiovisual
departments. Staffed reference desk.
Cataloger. National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, August 2003 to Sept. 2004.
Performed
original and copy cataloging for materials in a variety of languages
and formats, including assigning LC subject headings and call numbers.
Developed policies for cataloging processes and other technical
services functions. Installed and maintained software for automated
system (Follett) and cataloging utilities (OCLC). Created metadata for
electronic documents and images using OCLC ContentDM. Managed
interlibrary loan requests.
Serials Cataloging Graduate Assistant. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, September 2002 to August 2003.
Created
copy and original catalog records for serials in a variety of languages
and formats. Contributed to and updated records in OCLC WorldCat when
appropriate. Helped maintain catalog and acquisition records in local
system. Required initiative, creativity, and attention to detail, as
well as knowledge and application of AACR2 2002 rev., CONSER standards,
and DDC21.
